Psycron.app — Cookie Policy
Psycron ("we", "our", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies to ensure the correct functioning of our website (psycron.app), improve user experience, and allow analytics (only if you permit it).
This Cookie Policy explains:
- What cookies are
- What types of cookies we use
- Why we use them
- How you can manage or withdraw your consent
- How cookies relate to GDPR and LGPD obligations
This policy applies only to the Psycron.app website and does not apply to any future Psycron tools, applications, or platforms that may process health-related or special-category data.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small files stored on your browser when you visit a website. They help websites remember preferences, enable essential functions, and collect aggregated analytics.
We also use localStorage and sessionStorage, which are browser storage mechanisms that work similarly to cookies but are stored directly on your device and are never transmitted automatically with requests.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
We use two active categories of cookies:
- Essential cookies (always active; no consent required)
- Analytics cookies (optional; require consent)
A third category — marketing cookies — is not currently used.
3. Essential Cookies (Strictly Necessary)
These are required for the website to function properly. They cannot be disabled, and their use is permitted under GDPR Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest) and LGPD Art. 7, V and IX (performance of service / legitimate interest).
These items do not identify you and do not track you across websites.
Essential storage used by Psycron
| Item | Storage type | Duration | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
psycron-cookie-consent |
localStorage | Until cleared | Stores your cookie consent choice so you are not asked on every visit | Legal obligation — GDPR Art. 6(1)(c) / LGPD Art. 7, II |
| Preferred display language | localStorage | Persistent | Remembers your language preference (EN/PT) | Legitimate interest — GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) / LGPD Art. 7, IX |
| Language auto-redirect | Cookie / localStorage | Persistent | Redirects to your preferred locale | Legitimate interest — GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) / LGPD Art. 7, IX |
| Navigation state | sessionStorage | Session (tab close) | Supports correct page/anchor loading in Next.js App Router | Performance of service — GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) / LGPD Art. 7, V |
4. Analytics Cookies (Optional — Require Consent)
We use PostHog for product analytics via its JavaScript library. Analytics cookies and tracking only load after you give explicit consent via our banner.
The cookie settings link is located in the footer of every page and you can edit your preferences at any time.
If you accept analytics cookies, PostHog may collect:
Interaction & behavioural data
- Page views and time spent on each page
- Scroll depth
- Button and link clicks (CTAs, language switcher, waitlist sign-up)
Technical device data
- Device type and screen resolution
- Browser and operating system
- Approximate location (country/city level — IP address is not stored)
Traffic source data
- Referral URLs
- UTM parameters and campaign information
Purpose: To understand how visitors use our website and improve the user experience.
Legal basis: Consent — GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) / LGPD Art. 7, I.
PostHog is configured with person_profiles: 'identified_only', meaning no personal profile is created for anonymous visitors.
Analytics cookies set by PostHog
| Cookie / Storage item | Duration | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
ph_<api_key>_posthog |
1 year | Stores anonymous distinct ID and session data | Only set after consent |
ph_session_id |
30 minutes | Identifies the current session | Only set after consent |
If you reject analytics cookies, PostHog will not load and no data is sent. If you later update your preferences, your new choice takes effect immediately.
5. Marketing Cookies (Not Used Currently)
We do not use:
- Meta/Facebook Pixel
- Google Ads Remarketing
- LinkedIn Insight Tag
- Any other advertising or retargeting technologies
If these are implemented in the future, we will update this policy and request separate explicit consent before activating them.
6. Newsletter and Data Submitted Voluntarily
If you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter or waitlist, we collect your email address, consent timestamp, and consent purpose. This is not cookie-based.
Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) / LGPD Art. 7, I — explicit consent.
Visitors may unsubscribe at any time.
7. International Data Transfers
PostHog processes analytics data within the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). No analytics data is transferred outside the EU/EEA.
Resend, Inc. (email delivery) and Vercel, Inc. (hosting) operate under GDPR-compliant Data Processing Agreements including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), and comply with LGPD Art. 33–36 for Brazilian residents.
8. How to Manage or Withdraw Cookie Consent
You can:
- Accept all cookies
- Reject all non-essential cookies
- Customise which categories you allow
- Withdraw or modify your consent at any time
Consent can be managed via:
- The "Cookie preferences" link in the website footer
- Clearing cookies and localStorage in your browser settings
Upon withdrawal of consent, PostHog is immediately disabled and no further data is collected.
9. Your Rights
Under GDPR (EEA / UK residents), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing of personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your national Data Protection Authority.
Under LGPD (Brazilian residents), you have the right to confirm processing, access, correct, anonymise, block, delete, and port your data; to receive information about sharing; to withdraw consent; and to lodge a complaint with the ANPD at gov.br/anpd.
Because we do not identify visitors through essential cookies, most rights apply only to newsletter subscribers.
For requests, contact: ask@psycron.app
10. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time.
If changes affect the use of optional cookies, we will display the cookie banner again and request renewed consent.
The latest version will always be available at psycron.app.
